follow His fragrance

There is something so magical about mystery, drawing you in and beyond what you think you know. Seems like God leaves a trail of perfume, a lingering scent that calls you to keep searching. The stronger the fragrance becomes, the more you desire.

The King desires to reveal things to you. There is nothing he wants more than for his heart to become tangled with yours. And guess what?

It already is.

Since he created you, piece by painstaking piece, every sinew of your being is his own. He is yours, you are his. Just as the groom unveils his bride, so the King wishes to reveal you, and reveal to you.

If only that were as easy as it sounds. It takes delving deeper and deeper into who your Lover is, and who he has created you to be.

Once, a few years ago, during a difficult time in my life, I had a vision from the Lord.

I was completely surrounded by a tangible darkness, where I could sense nothing. Not a breath of air, nor a sound to guide me out. Then, ever so gently, I felt an urge from the Lord to swing my arms upward and over my head. There was a gigantic ripping, a deep gash being torn in space. Light and water gushed down upon me in a heart-stopping torrent. I laughed and turned my face to the opening, life giving joy still gushing down. Then I looked at my hands and realized I’d had a sword all along.

All it took was a whisper in my spirit. All it took was my heart seeking his, which beats with and for me.

When things are looking bleak, or uncertain, or you are needing guidance on a difficult choice, in his timing, the Lord is ready and willing to show you the way.

Sometimes, when you ask him a question, you’re hoping for the answer on your schedule, or in a way you think is best. As nice as that would be, I think we miss the point. Usually, by being made to wait, you continue to spend more and more quality time with him. You then end up learning more on the journey than at the destination.

Sometimes, I wonder if that is one of the only ways the Lord can get through to us busy, distracted creatures. He’s always there, beside you, waiting to listen, willing to speak, but you have to choose to become still. Honestly, the mere fact that the Star-breather wants to show himself to you, confounds the mind. How did we become so important to the King on the high throne? You are his masterpiece, his DNA. You are woven into the tendons of his heart, the loom of his spirit.

By searching for, and learning about him, your eyes can be opened to what he sees, and what he desires.

Your groom awaits with eyes of burning coals for you to come near. Come near, and see him. And be seen by him.
