Meet Sara
My name is Sara! I am from a small town in southern Indiana but currently live in Indianapolis and have for the last five years. I have walked many paths in my 26 years of life, but my most favorite and precious one has been with my heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ. I have been set free from some dark things in my life and I love sharing with people that they also can have access to the same freedom! I am a quiet person and enjoy what people often call the “simple things” in life. I am a lover of all animals but especially horses. One of my favorite feelings in the world is riding on the back of a horse in full sprint and experiencing the freedom of that moment. I also am an avid lover of butterflies. I get lost in the finite details of their creation and the uniqueness of each one. One of my most cherished roles that I play in life is being an aunt. I have a unique relationship with my nieces and nephew, and there are few things that make my heart flutter the way it does when I see them smile. I love being outside but also do not mind snuggling up in a warm blanket in front of a captivating film.
LWM: What do you do when the well starts running dry?
When I find myself running dry, I try to be very intentional to drink in truth. I love to go on walks or find a comfortable spot in nature and admire God’s creation where He will often speak to me in a quiet whisper. I sometimes will sit outside, close my eyes, and completely lean into what I hear around me—the soft wind, or the very loud bird, or the calmness of water close by. Simply by soaking in my surroundings I find myself being replenished. I also love to blast worship music, or sometimes just cry in the deep, intimate space that was created for only my Father and me.
LWM: What brings you to LightWater Mission?
During one of the hardest seasons of my life I received ministry at a level I never knew was possible. For me that was only the beginning of learning how deep God’s love goes for us and how real His freedom is. What I experienced that day changed my life. As I laid my head down that night one of the things that rang loudest in my ears was “Sara, you have to tell other people of this freedom.” I thought of the hungry people in the world and how so many of them do not know the level of truth and love I experienced, and how often people go their entire lives never knowing. I wanted to share it but I had not the slightest clue what that looked like, as I had only started to discover it. Fast forward to five years later, and here I am. I believe that God has called me to join Lindsey’s team of writers to share of the truth and love He has given me; to hopefully encourage others that they also have that same access. I cannot personally think of a better way to share that for myself than through writing.
LWM: What message would you like to share with our readers?
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
John 3:36
We have been set free! One of my greatest lessons has been learning to walk this out. There is a level of freedom that we can live out daily, despite any circumstances, and I find myself wanting to live deeper and deeper within it. I am looking forward to walking with all the folks who want to dive deep with me into all that God intended for us to have in Him!
