Meet Morgan

Hi, I am Morgan! I’m married to my high school sweetheart and we have four amazing children whom we homeschool. Before kids I was a wedding photographer until God closed the doors to my business, (a story for another time), and directed me to stay at home with my children. I have found great joy tending to my family whilst also being stretched in new ways to depend on the Lord. I’m a barefoot, book-in-hand, outdoors kind-of gal, and recently I’ve been learning to improve my gardening skills!

I love reading the Bible and am passionate about sharing what God teaches me through His word as I, by His grace, follow my Shepherd home to that city I can settle in.

LWM: Describe your ideal day

Keep in mind this is my IDEAL day and therefore this isn’t every day haha (especially recently with a sleep-averse toddler!). Ideally I wake up just before sunrise, get my Earl Grey in hand and head over to my cozy reading chair to watch the sun come up, read my bible and sit with God before everyone else in the house begins to stir. In summer, an ideal day is ALL the hours outside, maybe reading a story or two together, a visit with friends and family, lots of ice cream and fresh fruit, bike rides/walks and a family swim in the pool as the sun sets.

And at the end of the day once the kids are in bed: a book to read or a pen to write with, tea and chocolate on the couch. Yes, please.

LWM: What do you do when the well starts running dry?

Step away from it all.

Ironically, when taking in too much inspiring material my creativity and desire to share dissipates like water in a hot desert.  So, when I sense this happening I limit my social media, books I’m reading and skills I’m working on to get outside and feel the grass on my feet, the wind on my face and to just BE.  BE with my God. Often my well runs dry because I unwittingly am putting pressure on myself to perform. So I step back and wait until the Holy Spirit urges me on through His power and not my own strength. This can be easier said than done! But always returning to the well that does not run dry is the only way forward.

LWM: What brings you to LightWater Mission?

I’m very excited to be here. I met Lindsey through a mutual friend who told me that she and I both had some things in common (a love for writing). Lindsey was working on a story and asked for people to read through her first drafts and I was happy to volunteer. Since then, I’ve often read what Lindsey shares on her blog/letters and when she put forward the possibility of a team of writers my heart could not contain the excitement especially as I read about her heart for women to be encouraged in the growing of their faith—one that is living and active. As in Ephesians 4, my hope is that  “we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

LWM: What words of wisdom do you have for our readers?

You know friends, I think the wisest thing any of us can do in these days is keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Remembering who is on the throne and seeking His face daily, I’m reminded of 1 Peter 1:13 that we need to prepare our minds for action and be sober minded all the while walking in joyful expectation! I find great comfort in knowing that my times are in His hands…be strong and courageous!

I am looking forward to our time together.
